One of the simple lessons we’re attempting to instill in our children involves giving back. In our consumption-driven culture, we take and take and take, often without thinking about the repercussions of depleting resources or how much others will get to enjoy or benefit from the same thing we enjoyed.
Giving more than taking is an ambitious and audacious goal. And does not seem to be a perfect concept that can be applied to everything 100% of the time. But by constantly reminding ourselves that we need to give back, to pay it forward, to leave a place better than we found it, then actually doing so as much as we can, we can truly improve parts of our world, our environment, and our society. And when we can give back more than we take, we make a selfless investment in our world for the benefit of others.
We chose to pair our Give & take products with Southern Poverty Law Center because of how they work tirelessly in seeking justice, equality, and opportunity for the most vulnerable and oppressed members of our society. 25% of profits from the sale of Give & take go directly to SPLC.
The SPLC is dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society. Using litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy, the SPLC works toward the day when the ideals of equal justice and equal opportunity will be a reality.
